The year is 2001. Season, summer. Anders F’ing Krauss and I were co leaders of the Volunteer Long Trail Patrol. Notable volunteers were: Zyla Nuite a VT local who worked the entire season, barefoot, and sent me these pictures, Chris from England who was a multi –year season long volunteer, and Bob a recent Coast Guard retiree who was volunteering up and down the AT spent 5-6 weeks with us. We had to plan and buy the meals, meat and greet the volunteers and then for 5 days try to teach them dry laid stone masonry get some work out of them.
