Lake Chelan is about 1 mile wide about 50 miles long. It is the third deepest lake in the US a natural fiord that is largely fed by glaciers and mountain streams. It runs downlake Southeast in the desert climate of Chelan near the Columbia River to the Northwest near the cascade crest at Stehekin. The northwest uplake half of the lake is inaccessible by auto.
